What New Habit Do You Need to Practice Today?

We all reap the results of our habits, so it’s important to be aware of your own personal behaviors and tendencies. Are your habits helping you to become the person you need to be in order to receive what you desire to achieve?

For me, I need to continue working on my daily meditation practice. It’s been so hectic lately with all these competing priorities, but that only means that I need to invest more time in mindfulness in order keep up with this productive pace. The person I need to consistently become is someone who is calm and cool when the pressure is on, so I can hit my desired targets, even with distractions all around me.

I urge you to intentionally work on your habits because it it your habits that will make or break you. The good news is that you have the power to replace bad habits with good ones. It’s all about your daily practice.

Invest Your Time and Activity Into Today

prime-productivity-invest-your-time-and-activity-into-today

You can’t act in the past because it’s no longer here. You can’t act in the future because the future has not yet arrived.

I used to practice taking action with a divided mind. For example, I’d be physically present with family but mentally thinking about work. Now, I use systems that allow me to be fully present with the people I’m with. Once it’s time to get back to work, I know exactly what I need to do to be effective.

Put your whole mind and activity into your present action because it is this present-minded activity will lead to your prime productivity!

Are you effectively investing your time and activity into today (and not regretting the past or avoiding the future)?

‘Tomorrow’ is the thing that’s always coming but never arrives. ‘Today’ is the thing that’s already here and never leaves. And because that’s the case, I would much prefer to invest in today than sit around waiting for an arrival that’s not arriving. ~ Craig D. Lounsbroug

Where Does All Your Time Go?

Time is your most precious asset since you can’t get it back, so it’s critically important that you learn how to beat procrastination to stay on track.

Those various minutes you lose here and there, are nothing to the mind of a procrastinator who doesn’t care.

But it’s YOU, who chooses to be different by achieving prime productivity, and leading the life that takes you were you really want to be.

You can retrain your brain and acquire the productivity tools to grow, in order to be mindful of where all your time goes.

“Procrastination is the thief of time.” ~ Edward Young

Stop Trying To Do Too Much

When it comes to your productivity, your job isn’t to overwork or rush blindly in an effort to do as many things as possible in the shortest possible time.

It’s not really about the number of things you do, but the effectiveness of each action that counts.

For example, yesterday, I was trying to rush to get my laundry done in the quickest time possible. So, I decided to jam the laundry machine with my clothes and bed sheets at the same time, thinking I’d save time by doing 1 load instead of 2. I actually wasted more time because the laundry machine couldn’t complete the wash cycle due to the unbalanced load. As a result, instead of taking 1 hour, it took 3 hours to finish!

Let’s stop trying to do too much and instead focus on the actions that will effectively get us closer to our desired goals.

Productivity Includes Taking Care of Yourself

It’s so easy to be primarily focused on our activity and how much we are getting done, but it’s important to remember that we need to take care of ourselves too.

Recently, I’ve found myself scheduled in so many back-to-back virtual meetings and it’s been draining to jump from one Zoom call to the next without a break.

I’ve learned to give myself permission to take a moment to breathe, hydrate, and recharge, even if that means I leave early or come late to a meeting (I always let my other meeting attendees know in advance).

Let this post be a reminder to nourish your whole self. In the long run, stopping to pause and rest, will actually allow you go further with your productivity.

“The key to productive life is a complete care for the body, soul, spirit and mental well being.” ― Lailah Gifty Akita
